While one of our favorite GF bakeries has left the Upper East Side (R.I.P. Pip's Place), there are two new great gluten-free places in NYC to try!
NOGLU New York is a new restaurant and bakery located at 1266 Madison Avenue. The menu is entirely gluten-free. Yippee! (They also have a restaurant by the same name in Paris, if you happen to be vacationing abroad in the City of Lights.) Find information on the restaurant here at http://www.noglu.fr/contact-2/noglu-ny-is-opening-soon/ BY THE WAY bakery is a gluten-free, dairy-free store with locations on both the Upper East and Upper West Sides. Delicious! To find out more, visit the store or find them at http://www.btwbakery.com/#welcome If you come across a fabulous gluten-free friendly eatery, please let us know so we can spread the word. Bon Appetit! Just when I thought the weather was turning to spring, today is 40 degrees and snow is expected on Friday. My crocuses having already started coming up. What a tease! So, here is a delicious soup to warm you up on days like this. It's one of my favorites and a classic from the ultimate vegetarian restaurant, Moosewood, located in the heart of Ithaca, New York (Go Big Red!) It's easy to make, healthy, and has a spicy kick. Serve it with some toasted gluten-free ciabatta bread on the side and your lunch is ready. Freeze any leftovers for another chilly day until bathing suit season arrives. Enjoy!
GYPSY SOUP Ingredients:
Directions: Heat oil in a large pot and sauté onion, garlic, celery, and potato for about 5 minutes. Add broth, bay leaf, and spices. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer with the cover on for 15 minutes. Add tomatoes, peppers, and chick peas. Simmer for another 10 minutes. Stir in the soy sauce or tamari. Serves 4-6 hungry people. |
